TOPAZ FOR THE MORE ADVANCED PHOTOGRAPHER
When I use the Topaz software as a plug-in for Photoshop (Elements or CC) I have always found the Presets that are provided to be a good starting point in creating a better image. However, the heart of the software lies in the effectiveness of the tools used to make the finer adjustments.
Adjust 5 enables:
• Tone mapping
• Exposure correction
• Contrast adjustment
• Pseudo HDR creation
• Vibrancy adjustment
• Shadow adjustment
• Highlight adjustment
• Extreme colour generation/modification
• Desaturated color
• Hard light images
• Soft light images
• Simplified details
• Extreme details
TOPAZ ADJUST 5 ADVANCED
Competent plug-in or stand alone editor - highly capable and efficient.
Once I have opened the processing screen I always adopt the Before (left) and After (Right) view.
The panels containing the processing adjustments are down the right-hand side.
(The left is reserved for the Presets.)
Using the adjustment panels I now have an image that has received small adjustments (e.g. to the
saturation, the definition of detail within the scene) and a vignette has been added.
Now, rather than starting with Presets I am going into them in order to see if they will lead to a further
improvement of my edited image.
From these alternatives I felt that the 'Brilliant Cold' option gave the image just a little more 'edge' - so I elected to use this Preset.
The split screen view clearly reveals the dierence between the starting image and the edited image.
All that remains is to Apply the changes and Save the file.
Topaz Adjust 5 can be added as a filter to Photoshop or used as a stand-alone program.
Either way it provides many features for advanced image processing that I value and frequently use.
